Francis of Assisi wrote this: “Our Lord says in the Gospel, ‘Love your enemies.’ One who truly loves his enemy does not bear malice for any injury that he has received from him. Because he loves God, he grieves for the sin on the other’s soul and shows his love by his actions.”
