Gospel for God’s Children by Linda Shields:
“God’s Children”
I was reading in John 3, chapter 1, verse 11, "Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God's children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God. "
Well, I thought, right there is proof enough that I want to be good, because I definitely want to be a child of God.
God is so good to his children. In the book of Psalms several verses compares God to a mother hen who covers her babies with her wings to protect them. "He will shield you with his wings. He will shelter you with his feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” (Psalms 91: 4).
Psalms 91: 14 - 16 states, “The Lord says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them. I will satisfy them with a long life and give them my salvation.’"
What a wonderful Heavenly Father we have, and isn't it wonderful that he gives us the privilege of being his children through faith in his son Jesus.
If you don't know Jesus as your savior, you can. His message of salvation is simple. Ask Him to forgive your sins (the bad things you have done), ask him to save you, tell him you have faith that he can save you because of his promises in the Bible. God can be trusted, for in Hebrews chapter 6, verses 17 - 18 it states, “God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind..” So God has given us both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable for it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can take new courage, for we can hold on to his promise with confidence.
Let us thank God for his promises, for his son Jesus, and for the privilege of being called his children.
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for your love and protection. We thank you for Jesus, and for your forgiving our sins. Help us to prove that we are your children by our actions, by obeying your word. And Lord when we do wrong, please forgive our sin, and help us to do what is right. In Jesus name we pray, Amen
God Bless
