Dear Friends,
It has been wonderful meeting with and getting to know more of you better! I will continue to reach out to set up meetings, and of course, my door is always open during regular office hours of Monday-Thursday 8:30am-12:30pm.
In my meetings thus far, so many exciting ideas and plans have been bubbling up! Some of these ideas include getting started on cleaning up and making a nice gathering area for youth in part our Recreation Room, so you may be hearing from Jonna about volunteering to help with this endeavor. Further, we have heard that there is great interest in starting a men’s fellowship group, and my husband, Thaddeus, has agreed to help! As we are slowly inching towards cooler weather, we would love to have a craft circle where we can fellowship together while engaging in our favorite crafts, whether crocheting or knitting, cross-stitching, or anything else. And, as you all know, we have a playground that is not currently in use, and as we are across the street from the library, Val had the wonderful suggestion of inviting young children to come and utilize the space after attending their weekly reading groups, while also providing space for moms to visit with one another. For this, and for when younger children begin attending our church services more regularly, we are seeking volunteers to help watch over the children. Drop me a message to get involved in any of these activities or groups, including days/times that work for you, and/or to share your additional ideas!
For the month of September, each of our Sunday worship services will continue to be centered on the teachings of Jesus Christ, specifically his parables from the Gospel of Luke. We look forward to seeing you in church, and be sure to invite your friends! Remember that in September we will return to a start time of 10:45 a.m. and additionally, we have Worship in the Park on Sunday, September 14th!
On Sunday, September 28th, after worship, I will be offering a compassionate listening training session for the mission committee that is also open to anyone else who is interested in improving their listening skills and assisting with providing supportive visits to our congregation members, both those who are homebound as well as those seeking greater community connection. We will provide a small lunch, so please RSVP via email to Alberta or myself (amiemv@gmail.com).
May the peace of Christ be with each of you.
Pastor Amie
