Dear Friends,
We have entered a new season, and Autumn just happens to be my favorite one. The mix of warm and cool, the changing of the color of leaves, and the sound of them crunching under my feet after they fall, these small things always bring me great joy. This is also the time of our town’s biggest festival, Neewollah, and I know it will be enjoyed by all!
For the month of October, each of our Sunday worship services will be focused on a specific woman in the Gospel of Luke, beginning on October 5th with Mary the mother of Jesus and her beautiful song of praise called “The Magnificat.” This is also World Communion Sunday, and in honor of that we will bring a touch of the international to the Lord’s Supper.
We have made good progress on some of the plans I announced last month! Jonna, with the help of Kym, Susie, Lisa, and the property committee, has already begun making progress in creating a nice gathering area for youth in our Recreation Room. If you would like to add your support to this project, please contact Jonna to let her know! This past Sunday, we included an insert to the bulletin with times to choose from for the craft circle group where we can fellowship together while engaging in our favorite crafts, whether crocheting or knitting, cross-stitching, sketching, or whatever else you enjoy. If you haven’t yet filled out your date/time preference, there will be another insert in this Sunday’s bulletin.
The property committee is getting the playground ready for future use with a plan to get a new gate, put the swings back out, and ensure everything is ready and safe to use again. Our custodian, Pam, has been doing a deep clean of the nursery, including all of the toys in there, so that we have a place for the young ones to go during church. We’d love to refresh their crayons and coloring pages, as well, so we are looking for someone(s) to donate those! We will need volunteers to help watch over the children, so let us know if you can help. Drop me a message to get involved in any of these activities or groups, including days/times that work for you, and/or to share your additional ideas.
As a reminder, this Sunday, September 28th after worship, I will be offering a compassionate listening training session. We will provide a small lunch, so please RSVP via email to Alberta or myself by Thursday the 25th.
May the peace of Christ be with each of you.
