Gospel for God’s Children by Linda Shields:

“We Have a Friend Who is Always with Us”

In the book of Psalms,  chapter 14, verse 1 it says, “Only fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’"

How can anyone look up into the heavens at night, and see the myriad of stars, and deny there is a God.

I saw beautiful  butterflies in my flower garden this week and thought, how could something so exquisite not be created by a loving and awesome God.

Look at all the beautiful growing plants, the earth's menagerie of wonderful animals, and the complex human body itself, and then deny there is a God. The Bible tells us that the planets, stars, and galaxies are held in place by God.

King David wrote in Psalms 16: 2, “I said to the Lord, ‘You are my Master!  All the good things I have are from You.’"

David was right, all good things come from God.   He is our Master, and He is always with us.  What a good friend we have in him.

David also wrote in Psalms 16: 8, “I know the Lord is always with me.   I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.”

Isn't that comforting to know?  We have a friend who is always with us.

I am so glad that I had loving, Christian people in my life that taught me of God.  They taught me that his son, Jesus, loves me, and he gave his perfect life on the cross to take my sins away, and give me eternal life.

I know that someday I will see Jesus, and what a glorious day that will be.

So, if you hear others deny there is a God, pray for them.   Pray that their eyes will be opened to the truth, that they will come to know the Lord Jesus as their saviour, and realize that he is their best friend.  Let's  tell God thank you,  for his gifts,  his son, Jesus, and for being our friend.

Dear Heavenly Father,  we thank you for being our friend,  for always being with us, and loving us so much that you gave your son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our wrong doings, not his.  Thank you for eternal life, for our belief and trust in him.  Help us to remember to worship him,  pray and fellowship with him.  Help us to remember to pray for others that they too may receive the salvation offered by him.  In Jesus name we pray,  Amen
