Thanks to this virus, we are still unable to be together for Sunday worship, but, as we’ve been doing these past
few weeks, Sunday services are on-line. Below you will find links for hymns, Pastor’s announcements with scripture reading and sermon, and a special solo by Sarah Scovel. These links are set to be live beginning Saturday morning (May 9). We pray these tapings bring some sunshine into your day, be it stormy outside or beautiful. And please, feel free to share the links with your friends and family. We will also put the links on our Facebook page so you can share them from Facebook.
Be safe through our stormy weather this weekend, and we pray we will be able to gather together again soon.
Blessings,
The Staff at First Presbyterian Church, Independence, KS

At this time in our normal worship service, we would have our Prayers of the People where we pray for those on our prayer list and any other prayer concerns you may have. This week we ask that you pray for the following: Pray for friends who are bereaved; Pray for First Presbyterian Church in Freeport, Kansas; Pray for McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois; and any personal concerns you may have. After you have prayed, we ask that you recite the following: Almighty God, receive the gifts we bring in gratitude for your astounding goodness. Make our lives to be an acceptable offering in union with our risen Lord, who lives and reigns with you forever. We pray this in Jesus’ name who taught us to pray, saying, “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.”
Our last hymn is “How Firm a Foundation.” We will sing verses 1 through 4 (click on link for music) https://youtu.be/ZBEuMsPOTmI
